Goodbye Günther

13 Feb 14:

Goobye Günther is the latest from Frank Wurzinger: a tragi-comic solo clown show about 'a strapping young lad in his mid-thirties with a Central European accent' who finds out he has ten days to live. Frank plays Günther experiencing the Elizabeth Kubler-Ross stages of grief – denial, bargaining, anger, depression, acceptance – but always insisting to his pet goldfish Michelle that he’s fine, really, just fine...

The show opens with Death himself appearing on stage addressing the audience: “Have you ever walked through the eye of the needle? Or are you too FAT? Or VEIN, like a CAMEL?” then breaks with Frank stopping the show, throwing off his cowl and introducing all the 'metaphors, lighting effects & sophisticated humour' used to tell the story, 'including a ball-drop halfway through the first half, but that will be a surprise.'

Goodbye Günther is directed by the fabulous John Wright, founder of Told By an Idiot and Trestle Theatre, and I created the sound design, original music and voice of Michelle. It’s a wonderfully funny and surprisingly emotional show, and will be on at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival August 2014.
